A new Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer was revealed at the Mappa Stage 2023. The Trailer focused on Gojo’s Past arc, which is slated to take up the first cour of the second season. The panel also revealed a key character preview for the following Shibuya Arc, which will take up the second cour of the season.
However, the Suguru Geto took up a significant part of the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer, more so than Satoru Gojo. The trailer marked the first extended appearance of Toji Fushiguro on screen, as well as served to introduce the character of Riko Amanai properly.
Mappa Stage 2023 reveals Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer, character preview from the Shibuya arc, and more
The Mappa Stage 2023 panel consisted of Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori’s VA), Yuma Uchida (Megumi Fushiguro’s VA), Asami Seto (Nobara Kugisaki’s VA), and Megumi Ogata (Yuta Okkotsu’s VA). Notably, no one from Gojo’s Past Arc, such as Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Toji Fushiguro, or even Kento Nanami, was present at the panel. The three opening themes from season 1 and the anime film were played.
The panel showed the first look at the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer, which is one minute and 31 seconds long. It begins with Suguru Geto’s dialogue and ends with Satoru Gojo’s. Mappa did not maintain any effort to conceal the key points, as Toji Fushiguro is heard saying “I killed Satoru Gojo”, to which Geto replies, “Is that So? Then die.” Riko Amanai’s character also gets considerable exposition in the trailer.
The Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer also marks the appearance of Amanai’s guardian Kuroi and the younger versions of Mei Mei and Utahime Iori. The trailer ends with a shot of Suguru Geto’s eyes, hinting at his descent into darkness. The season 2 opening theme, “Ao no Sumika” by Tatsuya Kitani can be heard throughout the trailer.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Shibuya Arc Character Preview
While the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 trailer did not contain any mention or reference to the following Shibuya arc, the Mappa Stage 2023 panel did show the character designs for that arc from the second cour of the season. The character designs of Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki were shown first, followed by the character designs of Maki Zeni’n, Toge Inumaki, Panda, Satoru Gojo, and Kento Nanami.
Yuta Okkotsu was conspicuously absent from the preview, which implies that Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 would only adapt till chapter 137, which is when Yuta reappears in the manga. No glimpse of the antagonists was shown in the preview either. The panel confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 will be released on Thursday, July 6, at 11.56 pm JST.
